Upon conclusion of the South Africa Fashion Week and Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week it has left contemplating. One of the thoughts was the future of menswear in Nigeria. We put together three designers who really stood out to us at the Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week.
Future of Nigerian MensWear
Seun Morafa is probably the least experienced compared to the other two. However his vision of menswear quite enchanting—especially the brand’s use of locally sourced aso-oke fabric. Morafa presented his SS/18 collection during HLFDW2017. It featured an array of interesting designs.
Mai Atafo was awarded African Designer of the Year at the Glitz Style Awards this year. In addition, his designs have been described as versatile, stylish, urban, and contemporary. He is one of the most recognized and sought-after designers in the fashion industry.
Ola Akindeinde and Joseph IkeJo give a contemporary twist to traditional outfits .
